Ben is a peer professional with lived experience in the justice system. Over the past eight years, he has focused on returning to justice environments to drive systems change, enhance services, and transform culture by delivering and training others to deliver peer recovery services for justice-impacted individuals. 

Ben is one of 100 members in the New York Certification Board Training Registry and holds Certified Peer Recovery Advocate (CRPA), Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC), Criminal Justice Supported Recovery Professional (CJSR), and Peer Supervision Professional (PSP) certifications. As of January 2026, Ben has trained 275 New York, Vermont, and Massachusetts peer professionals in the national CJSR certification.  

He is currently the Center Staff Supervisor at the Healing Springs Recovery Community and Outreach Center in Saratoga Springs, New York. 

Ben has also
  • Spearheaded the development of the best-practice medication assisted treatment (MAT) program, recovery unit, and re-entry program at the Saratoga County Correctional Facility. 
  • Served as a subject matter expert with the New York Certification Board (NYCB) to develop the Criminal Justice Supported Recovery Professional (CJSR) national certification.  
  • Co-developed and regularly offers his 20-hour advanced training Peer Professionals in Correctional/Justice Settings course.
