CJSR Renewal Training – Advocacy in Justice Settings: The Who, What, When, and How of Effective Justice Advocacy

This one day, six-hour training provides the key components for advocating for your participants in court and correctional settings:

  • Defining and exploring advocacy and types of advocacies
  • Exploring the peer role as advocates in these settings
  • Applying lived experience to strategically advocate for both the individual and for systems change.

Participants create and practice their advocacy story as justice peer advocates and learn key language and acronyms common in these settings. Finally, participants learn how to cultivate allies to influence corrections and court systems to adopt more recovery-focused approaches to care.
